Story for a small boy

I was asked to write and illustrate a book for a small boy - so I did a story featuring his favourite toy cat.  I'm glad to say he liked the book!

UBUNTU

Late last year I took part in a group exhibition to raise funds for Breadline Africa, a South Africa-based charity that supports local initiatives by marginalised communities in order to help them to help themselves (their website is www.breadlineafrica.org).  The theme of the exhibition was "Ubuntu", an old African expression with many meanings: respect, helpfulness, sharing, caring, community, trust and unselfishness.

In line with this theme, I wrote and illustrated a children's story about the zoo animals making a trip to Africa, and called it, "Ubuntu, or, We Did It Together".

A spoil of cooks

The assignment here was to illustrate a collective noun.  It was great fun to do - and there were lots of other good and witty collective nouns on the list; it might be fun to try illustrating other ones when time permits . . .
